  • Margaret E. Brehm, 95, of Syracuse, formerly of rural Unadilla, died Dec. 6, 2013 at Holmes Lake Manor in Lincoln. She was born Sept. 15, 1918 to Orris and Mamie (Schutt) Brink in Neligh.

  • Margaret E. Brehm, 95, of Syracuse, formerly of rural Unadilla, died Dec. 6, 2013 at Holmes Lake Manor in Lincoln.  She was born Sept. 15, 1918 to Orris and Mamie (Schutt) Brink in Neligh.
    Margaret attended Wayne State College and received her secretary’s degree. She moved from Oakdale to Washington, DC to work for the War Department. She then moved to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and to Unadilla.
    Margaret married Richard Brehm Nov. 3, 1946 at the Congregational Church in Neligh. She was involved with the VFW #5547 Women’s Auxiliary, Women’s Fellowship and volunteered at the Otoe County Museum. She also belonged to Emanon Extension Club and was a 4-H leader for over 25 years.
    She is survived by children Dean and wife Jane Brehm of Henderson,  Wayne and wife Martha Sue (Marty) Brehm of Grand Island, Lois and husband Jerry Kiester of Des Moines, Iowa, Milan and wife Christie Brehm of Unadilla, and Marilyn and  husband Harry Wimer of Lincoln; grandchildren Tyson Brehm, Troy Brehm, Stuart and wife Kim Brehm, Holly and husband Shad Salmon, Kyla and husband Lance Routson, Heidi and husband Brian Zaversnik, Sarah and husband Brett Ehlers, Erin Velazco, Randy Brehm and fiancé Megan Bottcher, Austin Fentiman, Travis and wife Anne-Marie Fentiman, Emily and husband Omar Tuz and Richard Campbell; step grandchildren Jared and wife Amy Wimer, Natalie and husband Brian George; great grandchildren Ethan Brehm, Kelsey Brehm, Caitlin Salmon, Rylan Salmon, Paige Routson, Blair Zaversnik, Alexander Zaversnik, Tucker Ehlers, Tessa Ehlers, Diego Velazco, Aiden Velazco, Evelyn Fentiman and Marcus Tuz; and step great grandchildren  Lauren Bottcher, Shawn Wimer, Eric Wimer, Meghan Townsend and Paisley George.
    She was preceded by husband Richard in 1997, daughter Sharon Campbell in 1998, brothers Merle Brink and Arlo Brink and granddaughter Tori Brehm.
    Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Syracuse.
    Visitation is Tuesday, 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Syracuse.
    Burial will be at Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse.
    Memorials are suggested to Otoe County Museum, St. John’s UCC or VFW Flag Memorial.
