  • Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce is planning a Yule Fest and tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. tonight at the courthouse.
    Doughnuts and hot cocoa will be available at 6 p.m. There will be caroling and NCTC Director Tim Pendrell will explain the yule log. The tree lights will be turned on around 6:10 p.m.
    Amy Allgood of NCTC said the yule log will be a pine.
    "Pine stands for prosperity, so we will display it downtown for the city's prosperity," she said.
    AccuWeather forecasts the 6 p.m. temperature at 8 degrees, with a real feel of 3 below zero.
    The forecast is warmer than when the courthouse opened this morning. The temperature at 8 a.m. was 3 degrees with a real feel of 17 degrees below zero.
