James A. “Jimmy” Behrends, 54, of Nebraska City died Nov. 30, 2013 at his home in Nebraska City. He was born on Aug. 27, 1959 in Freising, Germany to Allan Mark and Katharina (Hobmaier) Behrends.
He graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1979.
Jim was currently working at Cargill in Nebraska City and had been employed there for 15 years. He was a talented guitarist and was part of the band Restless along with his brothers Donny and Duane.
He is survived by sons Travis Hulse of Lincoln and Jared Olis, stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif.; father Allan Behrends of Nebraska City; mother Katharina Behrends; siblings Diana Pieper and husband Merle of Plattsmouth, Donald Behrends, Duane Behrends and wife Kerri, Melissa Behrends and Michelle Bergonia and husband Albert, all of Nebraska City; four grandchildren; paternal grandfather Mark Behrends of Nebraska City; special friend Angie Sharp of Lincoln; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
He was preceded by maternal grandparents Vitus and Katharina Hobmaier and paternal grandmother Irene Behrends.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. at the Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Brian Esser offering words of comfort.
Memorials may be given to the Nebraska City Volunteer Fire Department or the Nebraska City Rescue Squad.
