Joseph E. Collins, age 65 of Farragut, IA passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at the University of Nebr. Medical Center in Omaha, NE.
Joe was born on October 20, 1948 in Hamburg, IA; the son of Floyd Lee and Edna Lucille (Brookshier) Collins. He attended school in Hamburg and graduated from the Hamburg High School with the Class of 1966. He attended college in Clarinda, IA and then at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, IA where he studied
Joe previously worked in drafting for the railroad and most recently was an over the road truck driver for Hendrickson Trucking. He enjoyed golfing and boxing and was a Golden Glove Boxer. Joe was a member of the Hamburg Baptist Church in Hamburg, IA.
He is survived by his children: Emily Long and husband Michael of Santa Rosa, CA; Ryan Hardy of Seattle, WA; Tracy Morris of Council Bluffs, IA; Joseph Collins and Ryan Collins both of Fremont, NE; father Floyd L. Collins of Farragut, IA; special friend Janice Brendle of LaVista, NE; four granchildren and sister-in-law Beulah Collins of Watson, MO; other family and friends.
Joseph was preceded in death by his mother Edna Collins on June 17, 2002 and a brother James on December 3, 2012.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg, IA with Pastor Tom Beutler officiating. Burial will follow the services at Mt. Olive Cemetery in rural Hamburg, IA.
The family will greet friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013 at the funeral home. Rash-Gude Funeral Home, Hamburg, IA in charge of the arrangements.
