  • After dropping decisions in the first and second sets, the Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca volleyball team battled back for a set three win, but ended up falling short in a 3-1 first round decision to top seeded Columbus Scotus at the Class C1 State Volleyball Championship at Grand Island High School on Thursday.
    Scores from the match were 25-16, 25-21, 27-29, and 25-18.
    Other first round scores from the Class C1 bracket were Ogallala over Wayne; Kearney Catholic over Chadron, and Minden over Wahoo. Second round match ups today in Grand Island are Ogallala vs. Kearney Catholic and Scotus vs. Minden.
