  • Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca raced to a 35-point first half lead and cruised to a 42-6 win over Raymond Central in first round action of the Class C1 football playoffs Thursday night.
    With the win, the Rockets advanced to the second round of the playoffs and will host Columbus Lakeview on Wednesday night. Columbus Lakeview, the No. 8 seed of the east bracket, won its first round game against Columbus Scotus by the final score of 35-14.

    Turning to the Class D1 playoffs, season opponents of the Lourdes football team were in action in the east bracket. No. 7 Freeman defeated No. 10 Friend 46-40 at Adams in a playoff rematch. The two teams closed out the season with Freeman taking an overtime win over Friend. No. 5 Exeter-Milligan defeated No. 12 Hartington, 56-6.
    Class D1 action continues next Wednesday with Freeman traveling to play at Howells-Dodge and Exeter-Milligan traveling to play High Plains Community.
