The Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca girls’ and boys’ cross country teams competed at the Class C state meet last week at Kearney Country Club.

Coleman Orchard finished 15th to lead the Rocket boys’ team and Kim Lowman was the top girls’ finisher in a non-medal winning effort.

The Rocket boys’ team finished seventh in the 12-team meet standings and were just two-tenths of a second away from sixth. The Rocket girls’ did not record a team finish.

Milford won the boys’ team title while Mitchell had the top individual finisher and a second place team finish. Columbus Scotus won the girls’ team title while Wayne had the top individual finisher and took third in the team race.


The Class B state team champions were Scottsbluff on the boys’ side and Lincoln Pius X on the girls’ side. York had the top individual finisher on the girls’ side and Scottsbluff had the top individual finisher on the boys’ side.
