  • Billy Duane Gold, 84, died Oct. 21, 2013 at University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha. He was born March 4, 1929 at Bedford, Iowa, to Cleo Clyde and Nellie B. (Munn) Gold. He graduated from Bedford High School and served his country in the National Guard.

  • Billy Duane Gold, 84, died Oct. 21, 2013 at University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha. He was born March 4, 1929 at Bedford, Iowa, to Cleo Clyde and Nellie B. (Munn) Gold. He graduated from Bedford High School and served his country in the National Guard.  
        He married Mary Ann Elliott Nov. 12, 1948 at Bentonville, Ark. They were married for 59 years until her death in 2008. They had two children, Danny and Mickey.
        Bill worked for Iowa Power in the 50’s and the 60’s. His hobbies and activities included square dance calling for many years, auctioneering (he held his own monthly auction in Hamburg), and becoming a pilot in 1969. Bill and Mary Ann moved to Clarinda in 1974 and he began his own electrical and plumbing business called Gold Home Center, where he worked until his retirement.
        Following retirement he remained active in home appliances buying, repairing and selling them from his shop in Shambaugh.
        He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann, and sister Arleta Roberts and her husband, Don.
        Surviving are his children:  son Dan Gold and wife Barbara of Carroll, Iowa, and daughter Mickey Nook and husband Rick of Shenandoah, Iowa; brother Jack Gold and wife Norma of Bedford; grandchildren Corey Nook and wife Meadow, Matthew   Nook and wife Amy, Christopher Gold, Jennifer Moberg and husband Eric, and Brandon Gold; and nine great-grandchildren.
        Funeral services were held Oct. 25, 2013 at Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel, Clarinda, with Pastor Buck officiating. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford.
        Memorials will be given to the family.
