Peru State College President Dan Hanson invites southeast Nebraskans to the campus Nov. 2 for homecoming activities that include a parade, a sneak peak of the Oak Bowl construction, tailgate carnival and running of Nebraska's Toughest Mile.

Due to construction, the football game against Missouri Valley College will be held at 2 p.m. at Nebraska City's Pioneer Field.

Peru State College President Dan Hanson is inviting southeast Nebraskans to campus for the college’s 93rd Annual Homecoming celebration, Color Me Bobcat, Saturday, Nov. 2.

President Hanson said, “homecoming is an opportunity for us to celebrate the beginning of another successful year and to thank southeast Nebraska for the unwavering support of our institution and our students.

“We invite all of our friends and neighbors to come to campus, meet our students and staff, and have some fun,” he said.

Due to continued construction of the Oak Bowl, the football game will be held at 2 p.m. at Nebraska City High School in Nebraska City.

 Sneak peek tours of the new Oak Bowl facility will be available during the tailgate and carnival from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 2
8:30 a.m.          Nebraska’s Toughest Mile
An entry free of $20 is required.
Those who register in advance will receive a free t-shirt at the finish line. Register online at or send a check made payable to Peru State Cross Country, Attn: Coach Leah Wehenkel, 1716 P St., Auburn, NE 68305. Be sure to include your t-shirt size.

Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. the day of the race. The starting line is near the Peru Fire Station and the finish line is near the front of T.J. Majors on the Peru State campus. Awards will be given to the top male and female finishers.
10 a.m.            Parade, Downtown Peru
                        Free and open to the public.

11 a.m. –        Tailgate and Carnival, Campus Quad
1 p.m.              Sneak Peek Tours, Oak Bowl
                        Free and open to the public.
The tailgate, featuring chili, burgers, hotdogs and more, will be held on the campus Quad near the Library. The Peru State Jazz Band will be on hand to entertain the crowd on the steps of the Jindra Fine Arts Building and a carnival will be held on the green in front of T.J. Majors. A variety of other activities are planned for young and old alike, including caricatures by renowned cartoonist and Peru State alum Paul Fell, face painting and more.
*In the event of inclement weather, the tailgate will be held in the Student Center and the carnival will be canceled.

2 p.m.              Football vs. Missouri Valley College, Nebraska City High School
Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for non-Peru State students. Peru State students with a student ID and children seven and younger are admitted free.
