  • Raymond D. Winkler, 78, of Norfolk, formerly of Nebraska City, died Oct. 6, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Norfolk. He was born on Nov. 3, 1934 in Watson, Mo., to Lee John and Hulda W. (Rausch) Winkler. He was baptized on June 24, 1938 in Nebraska City by Rev. George Duensing.

  • Raymond D. Winkler, 78, of Norfolk, formerly of Nebraska City, died Oct. 6, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Norfolk. He was born on Nov. 3, 1934 in Watson, Mo., to Lee John and Hulda W. (Rausch) Winkler. He was baptized on June 24, 1938 in Nebraska City by Rev. George Duensing.
    He married Velma M. Irwin on March 10, 1976 in Rock Port, Mo. She preceded him in death on Sept. 1, 2008.
    Raymond worked at American Meter Company in Nebraska City from Nov. 30, 1970 to July 1, 1995 in die cast and in the painting room.
    He loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, working on cars and mowing the grass.
    Raymond is survived by children Pam Winkler of Syracuse and Jacqueline Rhamy and Debbie Reimers, both of Nebraska City; seven grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy Hughson of Nebraska City; sister-in-law Betty Winkler of Nebraska City; many nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
    In addition to his wife, he was preceded by step-son Kevin Nerison; brothers William, Keith, Richard and George; and sister Bertha Fenske.
    Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Randy Rasmussen of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Lewiston Cemetery, southeast of Murray.
    The family will greet friends on Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 5-7 p.m. at the mortuary.
    Memorials are suggested to the family.
