The Peru State Bobcat football team had the biggest jump in the fourth poll released for the NAIA Football Coaches' Top 25 Poll after its 24-7 win over Avila University this past Saturday.
Morningside (Iowa) continues its reign as the top-ranked team. The Mustangs were again the unanimous No. 1 selection with 14 first-place votes and 314 total points after improving to 4-0 with a 33-7 win over Midland (Neb.) on Oct. 5.
For the second-straight week, four newcomers join the Top 25 – No. 21 Trinity International (Ill.), No. 22 Nebraska Wesleyan, No. 23 Faulkner (Ala.) and No. 25 St. Francis (Ill.). This is the first Top 25 ranking for Nebraska Wesleyan since 2009. The other three programs were ranked at some point in 2013.
Looking back at the Bobcats' game against Avilla University last weekend at Falls City, the Bobcats rebounded from a 7-0 halftime deficit by scoring 24 straight points in the second half.
Tyler Audsley had touchdown runs of 61 and 67 yards and connected with J.D. Faxon on a 20-yard scoring pass. Greg Conry accounted for the other points for Peru State on a 17-yard field goal.
Audsley, who ran 130 yards and passed 14-of-27 for 147 was named as the Heart of America Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
The Bobcats will be on the road on Saturday as they travel to Olathe, Kan., to take on the MidAmerica University Pioneers at 2 p.m.
