Mary C. Horner 88, of Otoe, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse. She was born on June 17, 1925 to George and Mae (McCall) Cokinos in Perry, Fla.
Mary married Clarence V. Horner on Dec. 10, 1944 in Perry. She was involved with the Garden Club and Episcopal Women.
She is survived by children Risa and Jerry Harris of Longview, Texas, Martha and Cameron Cummins of Tulsa, Okla., and John and Cathy Horner of Otoe; grandchildren Shannon Van Stroud of Austin, Texas, James M. Singleton V, of Los Angeles, Calif., Anne Lauren Caldwell of Austin, Texas, Jason James Lanier of Dallas, Texas, Crista Gabrielle Decker of Lincoln, John Chauncey Horner III of Lincoln and Jacob Daniel Horner of Lincoln; great grandchildren: Madison Caldwell, Timothy Caldwell, Julian Horner, Griffin Horner, Maxwell and Lyle Lanier, Harris Jones, Houston Jones, Alexis McDonald, Julia McDonald, Mary Aldon Harris and Houston E. Harris Jr.; sisters Georgia Haynes of Richardson, Texas, and Carolyn McCall of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister-in-law Betty Horner Gilfert of Otoe; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded by husband Clarence V. Horner, son Michael Horner, sister Dorothea Benthal and brother Bill Cokinos.
Graveside services will be held on Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the funeral home. No viewing is planned due to closed casket.
