Nebraska City officials report that a pickup truck and boat that were stolen in Nebraska City were recovered Wednesday in Mills County Iowa.
The pickup truck was stolen from the Walmart parking lot at 4:30 a.m. and the Otoe County Sheriff's Office suspects it may have been used in the theft of a $10,000 fishing boat from a residence.
The sheriff's office also investigated damage to a vehicle near the "old chicken farm" on South 63rd Road on the edge of Nebraska City. It was there that authorities discovered the van stolen from Iowa.
The owner of the property had called authorities because his vehicle was not where he had parked it, but it was still on the property. The clutch on his vehicle was damage and the car abandoned, along with the stolen van.
The sheriff's office suspects someone tried to use the vehicle to climb a hill to the back of the property, but abandoned it when it began to slide.
The truck and boat were later recovered in Iowa.
