  • Dr. James W. Snyder, 65, of Centerville died Sept. 22, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. He was born April 27, 1948 in Elmo, Mo., to David and Ruby (Wymore) Snyder. He married Sandy Marsh on April 26, 1969 in Hamburg.

  • Dr. James W. Snyder, 65, of Centerville died Sept. 22, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. He was born April 27, 1948 in Elmo, Mo., to David and Ruby (Wymore) Snyder. He married Sandy Marsh on April 26, 1969 in Hamburg.
    Jim received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Iowa. He graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in May of 1975.
    He served in the Army following his graduation from dental school. He was a captain at Fort Bragg in North Carolina from 1975-77 where he practiced dentistry on the military base.
    Jim and Sandy moved to Centerville in 1977 where he operated a dental practice for 36 years. He was active in many organizations including the Centerville Airport Commission, the Civil Service Commission, the Jaycees and Mercy Hospital as a board member.
    Jim was a University of Iowa Hawkeye fan. He was a football season ticket holder for 35 years. He loved traveling, antiquing, studying the Civil War and reading about the mafia. Most importantly, he loved time he spent with family, especially his grandchildren.
    He is survived by mother Ruby Snyder of Hamburg; wife Sandy Snyder of Centerville; children Dr. Stephanie Weber and husband Brian of Savoy, Ill., and Marcy Renoux and husband Chad of Olathe, Kan.; grandchildren Alexandra and Hayden Renoux of Olathe; and sisters Mary Lou Perry of Hamburg and Juanita Gates of Waldron, Mo.
    He was preceded by his father, David Snyder, and sister Alexa Lair.
    Lanae Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
