Eva A. Nease, 92, of Hamburg, died Sept. 13, 2013 at the Tabor Manor in Tabor. She was a resident there since January of 2010. Eva Arillia (Powers) Nease was born on April 6, 1921 on a farm near Syracuse, Neb., to John Carter and Blanche Mae (Lundy) Powers.
She married Lester Edgar Nease on Dec. 11, 1937. He preceded her in death in 1988.
Eva was a housewife and homemaker. She was also a cook at various places including the Roundtop Filling Station and Café that she and her husband, Lester, owned and operated. The former café was located just south of Hamburg on Highway 275.
She is survived by sister Lydia Hill of Shenandoah and half sister Helen Means of California; numerous nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Lester, she was preceded by sisters Mary Moore, Nettie McCool, and Leola Ward; brothers John Powers and George Harvey Powers; and half-brother Everett Scott.
Graveside funeral services were Sept. 17 at Mt. Olive Cemetery southeast of Hamburg with Rev. Daniel A. Voigt officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
