The Nebraska City City Council has scheduled an appreciation open house for Bill Davis from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Eagles Club.

Davis resigned as city attorney this year after serving 43 years.

He was originally appointed by Mayor A.O. Gigstad in 1970 and has been re-appointed by every mayor since.

He has served with eight mayors, eight city clerks, four city administrators and 43 city commissioners.

He is credited with establishing a unified city code book, working with the state Legislature to expand the city council from three to five members and inspection of 1,559 city ordinances.
