Maureen J. Hrouda, 49, of Talmage died as the result of a car accident south of Nebraska City on Sept. 10, 2013. Maureen Jill (Ellis) Hrouda was born on Feb. 1, 1964 at St. Mary’s Community Hospital in Nebraska City to Edward Stewart and Jeanette (Stocker) Ellis. She was one of three children in the family.
She graduated from the AVO-HA Community School at Avoca, Iowa, with the class of 1982. She graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a bachelor’s degree in English.
Maureen married Mark W. Hrouda, and he preceded her in death in November of 2002.
In her younger years, Maureen worked at Roberts Dairy in Omaha. Most recently, she worked at St. Mary’s Community Hospital in Nebraska City.
She is survived by her two sons: Benjamin R. Hrouda and Patrick M. Hrouda, both of Talmage; sister Joy Crisler and husband Pat of Kansas City, Mo.; brother John Ellis and wife Elizabeth of Mounds View, Minn.; other family and many friends.
In addition to her husband, Mark, she was preceded by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Maureen‘s brother-in-law Pat Crisler officiating.
A memorial fund is being established in her memory.
