Darrell D. Kennell, 65, of Lincoln, died Sept. 8, 2013 in Omaha. He was born Feb. 27, 1948 in Humboldt to Eugene Junior and Josephine (Ward) Kennell.
He owned Darrell’s Auto Body. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran who served in Plague and Doc Pho, Vietnam. He was a member of Capitol City Christian Church and the American Legion Post #3.
Darrell was a God-fearing Christian. He loved animals and helping other people.
Family members include his wife, Shelley; sons Troy Smith, Panama City, Fla., Andres Alt, Lincoln, Larry and Lee Kennell, Iowa; daughters Katanna Alt, Lincoln, Lynette Earl, Nebraska City, Lisa (Elliott) McClanahan, Mo., Laura (Dennis) Ehlers, Nebraska City; numerous grandchildren; one great granddaughter; sisters Linda (Dennis) Rector and Kathy Cash, all of Lincoln; sister-in-law Darlene Chin, Davey; nieces and nephews, Chrissy (Chris) Hier, Billie Jo (Shane) Leighton, Joshua and Jeremy Kennell, all of Lincoln; numerous relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents, infant son, brothers David and Allen Kennell, and mother-in-law.
Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12 at Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ St., Lincoln, with Rev. Ray Boucher officiating. Memorials are suggested to the family. Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to service time at Roper and Sons.
