  • The Peru State volleyball team is playing at the Avila Tourney at Kansas City this weekend.
    Peru was scheduled to play today at 11 a.m. against Park University and 3 p.m. against Kansas Wesleyan. Saturday action has the Bobcats playing McPherson at 1 p.m. and University of St. Mary at 5 p.m.
    Coming into the Avila event, the Bobcats have a record of 4-5.
    Peru State won three matches at the Mercy tournament with those victories coming against AIB, Mount Mercy and William Penn. Peru beat AIB for a second time in action at the Bellevue Labor Day tourney, but fell to Northwestern, Midland, Jamestown, and Viterbo.
    Courtney Jurek, a Bellevue grad, is the team leader in aces with 13 and set assists with 138. The team's kill leader is Carrie Lierz with 72.
