Dolores Ann Paap, 88, of Nebraska City, died on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013 at her home. She was born on Feb. 25, 1925 at Paul, to Edward S. and Marie (Ertl) Kreifels.
She attended District 37 Country School and graduated from Nebraska City High School. She then attended the University of Nebraska.
On June 5, 1950 she married Robert Paap.
She worked for the law firm of Moran & James from September 1945, until the partners’ deaths. During that time she was chosen Nebraska Legal Secretary of the Year in 1975. She continued to work for the Vantine A. James family until two weeks ago.
She enjoyed flowers and gardening and loved to cook and bake and made many “special” cakes during her lifetime. She was also a doll collector.
She was preceded by sister Rita Dancosse and granddaughter Sara Jane Paap.
Surviving are her son, Thomas Paap and wife Mary of Nebraska City; grandson Christopher; sister Dorothy Webering of Nebraska City; niece Sharon Kreifel and husband Jim of Downers Grove, Ill.; nephew Steven Webering and wife Susan of Fort Collins, Colo.; great nieces and nephews, Marni Proctor and husband Bill, Shane Kreifel and wife Shelly, Brandi Reiter and husband David, Chad Kreifel and wife Dee, all of Illinois, and Emily and Alison Webering of Massachusetts; step granddaughter Michelle Watkins and husband Troy of Nebraska City and their children David Roberts, Zoe Mojica and Maggie Watkins; and great-great nephews and nieces, Jake, Brian, Sydney and Kylie Proctor, Grace, Emma, Jack and James Reiter, and Connor Kreifel, all of Illinois; brother-in-law F.J. “Danny” Dancosse of Overland Park, Kan.; other family and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City with Fr. Michael McCabe officiating. Burial will follow the services at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Nebraska City.
A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City.
Memorials may be given the Nebraska Special Olympics or Nebraska City Public Schools Special Education Department.
