Lyle H. Johnson, 88, of Lincoln, died Aug. 22, 2013. He was born Jan. 10, 1925 in Cook to Claude H. and Leora M. (Hauberg) Johnson.
He was a World War II U. S. Army veteran, having served in the European Theatre of Operations.
He retired in 1990 after serving as manager of Farmers Co-op in Talmage, Shelby, Waverly and Pleasant Dale for over 30 years.
He was a member of Vine Congregational Church, American Legion Post 246 and V.F.W Post 10042 and past member of Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge and Eagles Club.
Family members include his daughter, Phyllis (Norman) Saale, Grand Island; son Jerry L. Johnson, Lincoln; grandchildren Malia Saale and Sean (Lori) Saale, Lincoln; great grandchildren; step-grandchildren; and sister Joyce (Robert) Nowack, Brock.
He was preceded by his wife, Gladys; brothers Wayne and Ray; and step-daughter Sharon M. Benson.
Funeral service is at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26, at Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ St., Lincoln, with Rev. Dr. Renae Koehler officiating. Memorials are suggested to American Legion Post 246, Talmage.
