Wonder, a middle grade fiction novel written by R. J. Palmacio, is about a young boy with a facial deformity and his experiences transitioning from home school to a middle school.
It is one of 20 books identified this year by Nebraska Library Association's Golden Sower Award for middle schools ages.
Librarian Mary Finkner said the book will be distributed to core teachers and special education instructors for a classroom read.
The school library also received a donation of four Golden Sower books from the Nebraska Investment Finance Authority.
NIFA, created by the state Legislature in 1983 to promote investment in the state, held a conference at Lied Lodge and made the donation of the books in the name of the conference speaker.
