  • The Otoe County Visitors Committee agreed Wednesday to contribute $400 to help promote the Patriots' Day Run in Syracuse.
The third annual run, which includes 10K and 5K routes, is scheduled Sept. 14. The 10K starts at the VFW home at Fifth and Plum at 8 a.m. The 5K starts at 8:15 a.m.
Tim Christians of the Mid-County VFW Post 5547 said the race is growing in scope.
He said there were up to 70 participants last year and as many as 125 are expected this year.
He said a discount is being offered for large groups. Last year, the largest group was the eight-members of the U.S. Army unit based in Lincoln.
A virtual race bag is also being planned, so participants can find sponsors, coupons and offers.
A spaghetti feed is planned Friday before the race, to encourage overnight stays in the county.
