June Bernice Tipken, 91, of Nebraska City died at Duff’s Friendship Villa in Nebraska City on Aug. 14, 2013. She was born June 13, 1922 at Otoe to William and Pansy (Ganzel) Tipken.
She is survived by cousin Arnold Draeger and wife Patricia of Dunbar; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded by her parents, step-father Leonard Behrens, and infant sister Dorothy June Tipken.
June and her family lived on the family farm northeast of Dunbar. Her father died in a farm accident February 28, 1931. Her mother later married Leonard Behrens July 25, 1932. June attended District 11 School, also known as the Smallfoot School. Her family continued to live on a farm north of Dunbar for a few years before they moved into Dunbar. Her step-father worked for the Nebraska City Utilities so they eventually moved to Nebraska City.
June later lived with her cousin Arnold Draeger and his family where she enjoyed spending time with the entire family.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with Pastor Andrew DeGolyer officiating. Burial is at Wyuka Cemetery – Nebraska City
A memorial fund has been established.
Visitation is one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
