    She was born on October 16, 1929 in Nebraska City, NE to Edgar and Marjorie (Rivett) Ransdell.

  • Norma James, 83, peacefully received her angel wings on August 6, 2013.
    She was born on October 16, 1929 in Nebraska City, NE to Edgar and Marjorie (Rivett) Ransdell.
    Norma graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1947, and then attended Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada. She returned to Nebraska City. She married Mark James on January 30, 1953 in California. Deciding that their hometown was the best place to raise a family, they returned to Nebraska City.
    To this union were born three children - Joni, Mark and Mike.
    After the death of her husband in 1963, Norma worked in county government and the insurance and legal industries. She moved to Omaha in 1979, where she was employed by Club 89 and 64 Club as a hostess and manager.
    After she retired, she enjoyed crocheting beautiful creations. She leaves the legacy of being loved by everyone who knew her, and she was "everybody's Mom."
    Norma is survived by her daughter and son in law, Joni Craighead-Hoback and Dick Hoback of Omaha; son and daughter in law, Dr. Mark and Dianne James of Lawrenceville, GA; granddaughters Staci Craighead of Kearney, NE and Caety James of Lawrenceville GA; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Ed and Jane Ransdell of Topeka, KS, brother-in-law Dick Glasford and wife Bev Glasford of Omaha; and many loving family members and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark James; son, Dr. Michael James; parents, Edgar and Marjorie Ransdell; sisters, Carol Glasford and Jewell Ransdell; son-in-law Michael Craighead; and nephew, Rick Glasford.
    Private burial will be held at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City. Gatherings for friends and family will be held on Thursday, August 22 from 6-8 p.m. at Braman Mortuary, 6505 S. 144th Street in Omaha and on Friday, August 23 from 7-9 p.m. at Table Creek Golf Club in Nebraska City.
    Memorials in Norma's honor may be sent to the Josie Harper Hospice House, 7415 Cedar Street, Omaha, NE 68124.
