  • Mary Frances Gump, 88, of Eugene, Ore., died at home on Aug. 4, 2013. She was born on Sept. 15, 1924 to Walter Elmer and Thelma (Martin) Greenwood on her grandparents’ farm (Thomas O. and Clara Martin) in Thurman.

  • Mary Frances Gump, 88, of Eugene, Ore., died at home on Aug. 4, 2013. She was born on Sept. 15, 1924 to Walter Elmer and Thelma (Martin) Greenwood on her grandparents’ farm (Thomas O. and Clara Martin) in Thurman.  
    She and her future husband, Dale, graduated from Hamburg High School in 1942.  She then earned a secreterial-bookkeeping degree and was employed in Omaha.  She married Dale William Gump on Dec. 7, 1943 in Victoria, Texas, where he was stationed in the U.S. Army.  She continued to work as a bookkeeper in Houston, Texas.  
    In 1948 they moved to Oregon to live and raise a family.  
    Mary Frances was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
    Surviving are her husband of nearly 70 years, Dale; two daughters:  Cathy McLaughlin and Pat Endicott (husband Bill) all of Eugene; granddaughter Michelle Spangler and two great-grandchildren: Liam and Katie of Portland, Ore.; and brother Jack Greenwood (wife Ruth) of Seattle, Wash.
     
    She was preceded in death by her brother Homer Greenwood (wife Corinne) of Hamburg.
    Family graveside services were held on Aug. 8 at Lane Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Eugene.  
    Musgrove Funeral Home, Eugene, was in charge of funeral arrangements.
