Charles Ronald Eaton, 79, of Union died at Duff’s Friendship Villa – Nebraska City on Aug. 5, 2013. He was born July 16, 1934 at the family farm near Union to David Eli and Lennie Agnes (Mead) Eaton.
He is survived by daughter Joni Dooly and husband Donald of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sons Bradley Eaton and wife Cherie of Woodbury, Minn., David Eaton and fiancé Shelly Obermeyer of Union, and Jeffrey Eaton and wife Tina of Bellevue; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters Janet Beccard and husband Don of Bellevue, Goldie Hill of Percival, Iowa, Ruth Crawford of Whiting, Iowa, Arma Eaton of Bellevue and Opal Everett of Union; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded by brothers Wilbur, Harold and Kenneth and sisters Mamie, Mildred, Erma and Claretta.
He farmed and lived in the Union area his entire life.
Ron loved fishing and was a member of the Blue Birds Across Nebraska and the Plattsmouth Woodcarving Club. He also formerly served on the Union Rural Fire District Board and the Taylor School District 12 Board.
Ron served in the U.S. Army.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at the Bethel United Church of Christ in Nebraska City with Rev. Michael Lincoln officiating.
Pallbearers are Tom Rohlfs, Dale Everett, Mark Everett, Steve Guthals, Bill Allen and Dan Foster.
Burial is at Sciota Cemetery near Union. Memorials are suggested to Sciota Cemetery.
Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Wednesday at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with the family greeting friends from 5-8 p.m.
Military gravesite rites will be provided by Robert Bernard Roddy American Legion Post No. 235 in Union.
