Another six-run rally with two outs put the Nishnabotna in control on the way to a 12-1 victory in the District 14 semifinal against Stanton at Sidney on Thursday night.
The Blue Devils posted three-run frames in the first and second innings. Stanton faced the minimum number of batters in both the third and fourth innings and had two outs against the Blue Devils in the fifth when the flood gates opened.
Riley Scroggie got the hit party going with a single. Seven other batters took their cuts at the plate and, by the end of the frame, the Blue Devils led 12-1.
That inning had played out an inning earlier on Tuesday. Nishnabotna scored six runs after two outs in the fourth inning in a 13-3 victory over Essex-South Page.
And that wasn't the only common link between the Tuesday and Thursday games.
Stanton had about as much luck getting its offense going against starting hurler Joseph Heitshusen as Essex-South Page had against Schuyler Brennan on Tuesday.
Not much at all.
Stanton got its one run in the first inning and was held quiet the rest of the ball game.
With the victory, the Blue Devils qualified for the District 14 finals, which will be played at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Glenwood.
The Blue Devils will face an Underwood team in the finals that, like the Blue Devils, owns two double-digit victories in district play. Underwood beat Griswold 11-1 and took down Fremont-Mills 13-0.
