Lincoln police report a traffic fatality involving a 28-year-old Nebraska City man.
Matthew McCall was killed around 5 a.m. Monday at the intersection of South 70th Street and Highway 2.
Police report that his 2000 Lincoln LS struck into a light pole after the car missed a slight curve and ran off the roadway. The car burst into flames before rescue workers arrived.
McCall was the seventh person killed on Nebraska roadways from Friday through Monday, prompting a Nebraska State Patrol advisory about highway safety during the summer travel season.
Another Nebraska City man, Dion Higgins, 43, was killed in a head-on collision at 5:30 a.m. while on his way to compete in the Papillion triathlon on Sunday.
