  • Prange Construction began a $475,000 rennovation at the Wilson Creek 8-H dam in July.
The National Resource Conservation Service constructed the dam west of Dunbar in 1968 as a low-hazard structure, but it was reclassified with construction of Highway 2.
The renovation is intended to improve life safety and provide flood control for 70 years.
Randy Mason of the NRCS said the project includes 40,000 cubic yards of earth fill and construction of a 30-inch concrete drain pipe.
The Nemaha Natural Resources District is paying $170,000 for the upgrade.
