Hamburg Reporter July 3, 1969 issue reported that the I-29 construction from Iowa line south of Hamburg to Highway 136 east of Phelps City was bid at $8.9 million.
Rainfall for the first six months of the year was reported as four inches above normal with over 6 inches falling in the previous month. Only a year before June had only .68 of an inch, the driest ever recorded in the area. The year before 8.87 inches had fallen.
New wood and steel bleachers were planned for Sjulin Field. The stadium-style seats were to cost about $8000.
