So when Heng refers to a victory as the biggest of his life, there is reason to take notice.
That’s just what Heng is saying after winning the Michelob Amateur tourney at Grand Island’s Riverside Golf Course June 8-9.
Heng shot 18-hole scores of 71 and 72 to claim first place by a single shot.
“I was really happy with the way I played,” Heng said. “I took advantage of the opportunities I gave myself during both rounds on Saturday and Sunday. I was happy with how I handled being in contention and closing the deal.
“It was the biggest win of my life and hopefully the first of many more to come.”
Heng will continue a busy summer of work on the course by playing at Elkhorn’s Indian Creek Golf Course on June 17 in a qualifier for the United States Public Links Championships.
Also on Heng’s schedule is the Nebraska Match Play Championship on June 24 at the Elks Country Club in Columbus.
Heng is working at the Yankee Hill Country Club in Lincoln and will enter his senior year as a marketing major at the University of Nebraska this fall.
For now, it’s all about golf though.
“My short term goals are to keep working and improving while continuing to contend in these tournaments,” said Heng. “My long term goal is to take advantage of any opportunities golf brings my way.”
