  • Two killed in ambulance crash near Elmwood

  • The Cass County Sheriff's Office is reporting two fatalities in a Highway 34 accident Tuesday night.

    A 2002 Ford Ranger, driven by William J. Whitlatch, 24,of rural Syracuse, collided with a Weeping Water ambulance on the highway near Elmwood.

  • The Cass County Sheriff's Office is reporting two fatalities in a Highway 34 accident Tuesday at 10:22 p.m.
    A 2002 Ford Ranger, driven by William J. Whitlatch, 24, of rural Syracuse, collided with a Weeping Water ambulance, driven by Bob Hanes, 51, on the highway near Elmwood.
    The drivers of both vehicles have died. Two EMTs, Hane's 30-yearold daughter Melissa, and 46-year-old James Flint, were transported by medical helicopter to Bryan LGH West in Lincoln.
    The patient in the ambulance was taken by Elmwood Rescue to the hospital with minor injuries.
    The sheriff's office reports that the pickup was eastbound and crossed the center line.
