  • Palmyra is celebrating Annual Old Settler’s Picnic this weekend, June 7-8.


    The fun begins Friday with dinner at the park, served by the Palmyra Fire Department. Bingo will be from 7-9 p.m., and a fireworks display at 9:30, provided the weather holds out. Following the fireworks will be outdoor movies, sponsored by the Palmyra Rescue Squad.

    The fun begins Friday with dinner at the park, served by the Palmyra Fire Department. Bingo will be from 7-9 p.m., and a fireworks display at 9:30, provided the weather holds out. Following the fireworks will be outdoor movies, sponsored by the Palmyra Rescue Squad.
    The Panther Prowl 5K and 1-mile fun run/walk kicks off at 7 a.m. Saturday. Contact Cody Callahan at 402-432-7378 or pantherprowlpalmyra@yahoo.com for any questions regarding that event.
    Legion Post 195 will serve breakfast at the Legion Hall from 7:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday, and the Eastern Star will serve lunch in the park.
    The Methodists and Presbyte
    rians will sell baked goods and other items at their churches from 8 a.m to 4 p.m.
    Community garage sales officially open around town at 9 a.m., and the library will begin its used book sale.
    The kids’ carnival will be at the park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be pony rides, water fights and inflatable games.
    The big parade lines up at the high school, and begins to roll at 5 p.m.
    Following the parade, the Boy Scouts serve supper at the Activities Center, and a pedal tractor pull for all ages will be out front on Main Street.
    Evening activities include the raffle drawing and wine tasting at the Legion Hall.
