  • Ryan Grabowski, a Peru State Bobcat senior baseball player from Omaha, was named to the Capital One Academic All-America College Division Baseball Second Team.  It is believed Grabowski is the first Bobcat baseball player to earn the All-America honors.
The honorees were selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) from those previously recognized as First Team Academic All-District winners.
Grabowski, a criminal justice-administration major, has been a three-year member of the PsychologySociology-Criminal Justice (PSCJ) club and has been on the dean’s list twice.  He has assisted with the baseball camps and clinics and has worked in Bobcat game management for the past four years.
Grabowski has also helped with several of the baseball team’s community service activities.  Most recently, he has been part of a community engagement course that worked with the city of Auburn to do a visionary study of what the city could do in the future regarding social and recreational opportunities, business and economics, and education.
Part of the selection for the honor is also based on Grabowski’s efforts on the baseball field.  At the time of this release, Grabowski has the top batting average in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) at .398 as he has 39 hits on 98 at bats.  His .398 average is currently 30 in all of the NAIA.
Grabowski has had ten doubles, one triple, and one home run, resulting in a .551 slugging percentage.
At present, Grabowski has a .946 fielding percentage.   During the 2013 season, Grabowski has also pitched in five games and has a 2-1 record.  Most recently, Grabowski was named to the HAAC’s AllConference First Team.
