Pastor John Roth from Food for the Poor, will be giving the sermon this weekend at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nebraska City. Services will be held on Sat. at 5:30 p.m. and Sunday traditional service at 10:30 a.m. Food For the Poor is international and based in Coconut Creek Florida, serving 17 countries in the Caribbean, Central & South America, including Haiti, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador & Guyana. Pastor Roth is a 5th generation Pastor whose roots came from the Moravian church, where his Great-Great-Great Grandfather, Reverand John Roth was a circuit writer missionary in the territory that became Ohio in the 1750's. Pastor Roth is an ELCA Pastor having congregations or missions in Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Georgia and most recently Florida. For 15 years, he was Pastor at St. Thomas by the Bay in Miami & was interim Pastor in Homestead and Bogarston, Colorado and Fort Lauderdale & Key Largo in Florida. He completed his doctorate in 1985 from Drew University, in New Jersey. His most recent travels was a mission trip to Jamaica, Nicaragua, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic. He has preached in over two dozen states in the U.S. His son, Reverend Samuel, who serves St. Paul Mission, was in Nina for 30 years.
