Demolition of the 47-year-old Northside Elementary School is underway.
The school building was not a part of the school district's $23 million expansion and renovation program that included a new elementary school north of 14th Avenue.
The school dedicated the new school in May of 2010 and by 2012 Brett Allgood of the school board's Building and Grounds Committee said the old building is not worth $1 because of renovation costs.
Board member Tom Farell said it will cost $100,000 to tear the building down, but the school district could sell 17 to 19 lots for $475,000.
The board voted in March to demolish the building and Barrett Construction won the bid.
