The Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca boys’ track team scored a relay medal and an individual medal during last weekend’s action at the state track and field championships at Omaha Burke.
Coach Rick Nordhues said he was encouraged by the results.
“We were happy to win some medals,” said Nordhues. “Our 4 x 800 relay performed real well cutting six seconds off their previous best time. They are young and it was especially gratifying to send David Moss out with a state medal. Any time you can send a senior out with a medal, it feels good.
“Coleman (Orchard) did a really nice job. He competed well and won a medal in the 1600 giving him two state medals. This was a great confidence booster for him heading into his senior year.
“Dominic (Richardson), Nate (Zahn) and Tyler (Farley) all got to experience the state meet as their last competition so that was gratifying as well,” said Nordhues. “We had a lot of underclassmen perform at the state meet which should give us a lot of confidence heading into next season.”
