During the month of April 2013, eleven persons were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Roads.
¨ These 11 fatalities occurred in 10 crashes
¨ Eight of the ten vehicle occupants killed were not using safety belts
¨ Three fatalities occurred on the interstate, four happened on non-interstate highways, and
four took place on local roads
¨ Ten of the fatalities occurred in rural locations
¨ Six of the fatal crashes were single vehicle rollovers
¨ One of the fatalities was a motorcyclist
¨ One of the fatal crashes was a collision with a deer
¨ There were 11 fatalities in April of 2012.
¨ 45 of the 53 vehicle occupants killed during 2013 (84.9%) were not wearing safety belts.
