  • Vandals have targeted some of the professional artwork that has been installed around the community as part of the Enchanted Arboretum public art project.
The question now is how to protect the art pieces.
Jenni Brant, executive director of the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts is encouraging the public to keep a look out for suspicious activity around the art and to report any information they may have regarding the damage to two trees to law enforcement. A reward is being offered for information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of these vandals, she said.
As a preventative measure, some pieces will be re-located to areas that are in higher traffic areas to help deter the vandalism, she said.
The vandalism incidents happened on three separate occasions to two of the professional artist sculptures. The sculpture at the MRB Lewis & Clark Center was damaged sometime overnight May 15-16.
On Friday, a sculpture at Steinhart Park was found tipped over with one of the “branches” broken off. It was still in repairable condition until again being targeted by vandals and completely destroyed Saturday morning.
