A prayer service is scheduled at 11:30 a.m. May 15 at the Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in tabor for Harry (Bud) Starr Sr., who died May 13 at his home.
Starr was born Sept. 6, 1925, in Tabor to Glen C. and Elsie (Morris) Starr.
He enlisted in the US Army Air Corps serving as a corporal radar mechanic with the 710th Bombardment Squadron in Central Europe.
He married Mary A. Hall on Oct. 14, 1946, in Hiawatha, Kan. He worked evenings and weekends on Mary's farm near Tabor while working for Nelson Brothers in Tabor. After 11 years he was able to farm full time until retiring in 1972, when they moved into town.
He always enjoyed being outside and working with diary cows and other animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Clifton L. Starr.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter Lea Anne Maynes and husband Richard of Spring Hill, Kan., sons, Harry and wife Carolyn and Gary Lee, all of Tabor; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four sisters, Shirley Maxwell and husband Alonzo of Tabor, Judy Embree and husband Leroy, Marion O'Bannion and Sharon O'Bannion, all of Trenton, Mo., and other relatives.
Memorials to the Rommel-Conklin VFW Post No. 7064 in Tabor. Disposition of ashes will be later.
