The National Day of Prayer urged all to "Pray for America" May 2.
In Nebraska City, the gathering, usually held in front of the courthouse, was moved indoors at the American National Bank due to the weather.
The event was designed to "engage, equip, and encourage people to seek and encounter the Lord through prayer for our nation," according to the event brochure. Prayers were sought for the government, church, military, family, education, media and business.
Eighteen people attended the event in Nebraska City. One participant prayed our leaders have common sense and for "soldiers" and "peace."
Another prayed that attendance at the national event would grow and that more people would be motivated to participate. One hoped that next year they might "see all of the courthouse lawn full of people."
