Florence I. Marunda, 94, of Nebraska City died April 29, 2013, at Duffs Friendship Villa in Nebraska City. Florence I. Herring was born on Oct. 12, 1918, near Wyoming Precinct to George and Elizabeth (Frenzel) Herring. After high school, Florence married Kenneth L. Marunda in Auburn.
She worked at the Pendelton Woolen Mills in Nebraska City as a seamstress and was a homemaker. Florence was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nebraska City. She loved gardening, taking care of her animals and being with her family and friends. Florence was preceded by her father in 1977, husband in 1982, mother in 1997, and sister Jeannett Stillahn.
Survivors include her nieces Kathy Nutter of North Platte, Marcia and Pat McDonald of Nebraska City, and Cathy Warren of Nebraska City; nephews Dennis Marunda of Nebraska City, Gene Stillahn of Cheyenne, Wyo., Jerry Stillahn of Mercedes, Calif., Clark Stillahn of Cheyenne and Terry Marunda of Nebraska City; great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews; cousins and other relatives and friends.
Viewing is Friday, May 3, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 10-11 a.m. at Peterson Mortuary.
Graveside funeral service will be held Friday, May 3, at 2 p.m. at the Union Cemetery east of Otoe.
Memorials are suggested to the Red Cloud Indian School in Pine Ridge, S.D.
