Virlene F. Stahlhut, 91, of Lincoln, died April 28, 2013 at Grace Pointe, under the loving care of all the staff. She was born on Oct. 2, 1921 in rural Fairbury to Cornelius and Sarah (Junker) Johnson. She attended community college in Fairbury then went to work for the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II as a civilian employee. After the war she remained employed with the U.S. Air Force, working at the Lincoln Air Base unitl she married Charles Stahlhut.
As a very busy homemaker she also maintained the bookwork for Stahlhut Rexall Drug in Crete. She was also an active volunteer within the community of Crete, participating in V.F.W., American Legion and election polls.
She is survived by son Mark Stahlhut of Omaha; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Alma Stahlhut of San Bernadino, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law Janet and Richard Henning of Crete; daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Gary Davis of Lincoln; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; nephews Mark, Dennis and Douglas Johnson; and niece Mary Johnson of Fairbury.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warriors Project in honor of her lifelong love of her late husband Charles, also known as Chuck, Tank, Buddy and Chuckie Baby to all the girls.
Celebration of Life will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 3, at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th St.
