  • Betty Kathleen “Kathy“ White, 61, of Plattsmouth, Neb., formerly of Hamburg, died April 23, 2013 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

  • Betty Kathleen “Kathy“ White, 61, of Plattsmouth, Neb., formerly of Hamburg,  died April 23, 2013 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
    She was born on Oct. 29, 1951 in Hamburg to Charles F. “Bo” and Mary L. (Holmes) Cummings. She graduated from the Hamburg High School in 1969. She attended Peru State College, Peru, Neb., receiving her bachelors degree in 1978 and University of Nebraska at Omaha where she received her masters degree in Education.
    She married Morgan A. White on Aug. 30, 1969 in Hamburg.
    She began teaching in 1978 and continued in this career until her health declined. She was a loving and devoted special education teacher, teaching both junior high and high school. Most recently she taught at Fremont Mills School in Tabor and prior to that at Conestoga School in Murray, Neb. She was a member of the Watson Baptist Church, the National Education Association and the Red Hat Society.
    She is survived by husband Morgan A. White of Plattsmouth, Neb.; children Thaddeus A. White and significant other Jill Nettell of Omaha and Amanda J. Locklear and husband Alfred of Omaha; six grandchildren: Nicholas, Brittani and Nathaniel White and Morgan, Abigail and William Locklear; great-grandchild Thaddeus White; siblings Stephen Cummings and wife Elaine of Boston, Charles J. Cummings and wife Norma of Lincoln, Neb., and Keith Cummings and wife Glenda of Springfield, Ore.; other family and many friends.
    She was preceded by brother LeRoy Cummings,  sister Doris Born and nephew Stephen Stefkovich.
    Funeral services were April 26 at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg with Pastor Tom Beutler officiating. Burial was at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Hamburg.
    Memorials may be given to the Methodist Cancer Center or Children’s Hospital in Omaha.
