  • The Peru State softball team, which split an April 20 doubleheader against Benedictine College of Kansas, returns to action today at 5 and 7 p.m. for games at Nebraska Wesleyan University.
    Peru State will play the final games of its home schedule for this season at 2 and 4 p.m. Friday against Missouri Valley College before wrapping up the regular season with a 2 and 4 p.m. road doubleheader at Mid America Nazarene in Olathe, Kan., on Saturday.
    Peru State enters tonight’s action with a record of 12-22 overall.
    Season offensive leaders for the Bobcats are Emily Maresh for batting average, .325, and RBI, and Nebraska City grad Tesla Oldfield for stolen bases. Lauren Johnson leads the pitching staff in terms of ERA at 3.60, while Devon Massengale has the lead in strikeouts.
