Carol LaVon Stedman, 70, died suddenly Tuesday, April 16, 2013 in Thermopolis, Wyo. Cremation has taken place. A reception celebrating her life will be held Wednesday, 2 p.m. at the Hot Springs County Library meeting room in Thermopolis.
She was born Nov. 19, 1942 in Syracuse to Elmer and Laura (Rusch) Stedman. She graduated from Syracuse High School in 1960. On March 2, 1962 she married Harry Ahrens in Lincoln. The couple moved to Thermopolis in 2003 to be near the mountains.
Carol attended Real Estate School, sold Mary Kay products for a while and worked at Sheridan Pewter in Nebraska. Having a broad knowledge of many things, she always looked on the bright side, was open-minded, had a free spirit and accepted people for what they were. She was a beloved mother. She loved reading, sewing, politics and theology.
She is survived by former husband Harry of Thermopolis; children Russell of Thermopolis, Jackie Shuck of Edgar, Neb., Jenny (Richard) Hanson of Hickman, and Theresa (Matt) Money of Remsen, N.Y.; brother Cliff Stedman of Burr; and five grandchildren, Jade, Nickolas, Luke, Ashley and Courtney.
She was preceded by her brother, David; father, Elmer and mother, Laura Westphal.
