During the month of March 2013, seven persons were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Roads.
¨ These 7 fatalities occurred in 7 crashes
¨ Four of the six vehicle occupants killed were not using safety belts
¨ Two fatalities occurred on the interstate, three happened on non-interstate highways, and
two took place on local roads
¨ Five of the fatalities occurred in rural locations
¨ Four of the fatal crashes were single vehicle run-off-road accidents
¨ Four of the fatalities were age 16 to 24
¨ One of the fatalities was a pedestrian
¨ There were 15 fatalities in March of 2012. ¨ 37 of the 43 vehicle occupants killed during 2013 (86.1%) were not wearing safety belts.
