Raymond D. Ethington, 96, of Nebraska City died April 15, 2013 at the Ambassador in Nebraska City. He was born on Nov. 28, 1916 in Percival, Iowa, to Jess L. and Agnes N. (Worth) Ethington. He attended school and later served in the United States Army during World War II.
He married Dorothy “Dotti” M. (Caster) Williams on April 19, 2000 in Auburn.
Raymond was one who loved nature and being outdoors. He enjoyed traveling, the mountains and was fond of antiques. Raymond’s dog Susie was also a big part of his life.
He will be remembered as being a true gentleman, a thoughtful and caring man.
He is survived by his wife Dotti Ethington of Nebraska City; sisters Kate Lucas of Unadilla and Barbara Slegel of Milan, Tenn.; many nieces, nephews and their spouses and many friends.
He was preceded by five brothers: Virgil, Eugene, Jack, Bernard and Richard; and four sisters: Wilma, Maxine, Betty and Margaret.
A private family graveside service will be held at the Unadilla Cemetery at a later date with inurnment to follow. Raymond’s great-nephew Travis Lucas will officiate at the services.
