  • Nebraska City firefighters and emergency medical services lifted a man from South Table Creek Tuesday morning and transported him to St. Mary's Community Hospital where he was loaded on an medical helicopter.
Details of the emergency were in question Tuesday morning, but first responders said the man apparently fell from the railroad bridge about 30 feet to a rocky bottom.
He was not in the water, but was near the edge of the creek.
The man may have laid about two hours before workers at Crownline Plastics discovered him around 6:55 a.m. near Industrial Road and 20th Street.
EMS loaded the man on a backboard but the bank of the creek was too steep to carry him out safely. Firefighters assisted loading the backboard on a stokes basket and rescuers lifted the man to the bridge decking.
